MANILA, Philippines — Over 200 coronavirus patients and staff in temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMF) in various parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces were evacuated as a preemptive measure prior to the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.
The Department of Health reported that 146 patients and 99 health workers of the TTMFs at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Philippine Arena and the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) were transferred to different hotels early morning yesterday.
Patients and TTMF staff were relocated to the Nice Hotel branches in Mandaluyong and Arayat, Pampanga.
DOH said patients and staff from TTMF from the Philippine Arena were taken to Nice Hotel in MacArthur and those from PICC were transferred to the Nice Hotel North EDSA.
According to the DOH, the four TTMFs were located in flood-prone areas and thus the patients and staff have to be transferred to Oplan Kalinga Hotels for safety.
DOH also reported that P26 million worth of drugs and other medical supplies have been prepositioned while health emergency response teams are on alert for possible deployment. Hospitals in typhoon-affected regions have prepared generators.
Based on information reaching the DOH, a total of 906 families or close to 5,000 individuals from Southern Luzon were evacuated .
