MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Rosita (international name: Yutu) has entered the Philippine area of responsibility Saturday morning.

According to the state weather bureau, Rosita entered PAR at 6:30 a.m.

A weather bulletin for the 18th tropical cyclone to enter the country this year will be issued at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, weather forecasters said the typhoon packed winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 225 kph.

The storm was projected to move west-northwest at 20 kph.

If it maintains its present speed and track, government meteorologists said the typhoon is likely to hit Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rosita, considered a super typhoon in the United States, crumbled concrete houses, smashed cars and killed at least one person in the Northern Marianas Islands. It is believed to be the strongest storm to hit any part of the US in 2018.
