Re-electionist Bam Aquino files candidacy

MANILA, Philippines — Opposition lawmaker Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV is seeking a second term as senator for the 2019 midterm elections.

Aquino, who is leading the aspirants from the Liberal Party, is the nephew of the late senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

The senator is facing an uphill battle after dropping out of the so-called ‘Magic 12’ for the May 2019 senatorial elections.

The latest Pulse Asia survey showed that Aquino received a voting preference of 20.1 percent and was ranked in the 18th to 23rd bracket. — Gaea Katreena Cabico
