MANILA, Philippines (Updated 5:30 p.m.) — PAGASA said Tropical Depression Josie is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility between Sunday night and Monday morning.

In its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the state weather bureau has also announced that all Tropical Cyclone Signal Warnings are lifted.

"Josie" continues to move north-northeastward at 25 kph. At 4 p.m. Sunday, the center of Josie was estimated at 330 km north-northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will bring scattered to widespread monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas.

PAGASA warned residents of these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas and in mountainous areas to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslide. The public is also advised to coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices and continue monitoring for updates.

Sea travel also remains risky over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.

"Josie" packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Rainy SONA day

In a radio interview early Sunday, PAGASA also said that monsoon rains are expected to pour all day during the third State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday.

Quezon City, where Batasan Complex, the site of Duterte's SONA, is located has announced class suspensions for Monday in view of the annual address of the Philippine president.

Other schools, meanwhile, also canceled classes on Monday due to the bad weather.
