Signal No. 1 in some areas as 'Henry' maintains strength
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Henry has maintained strength and is moving in the general direction of the northernmost part of Luzon, PAGASA said Monday morning.
The weather bureau said in its severe weather bulletin that Henry is expected to pass through the area of the Babuyan Group of Islands by Monday night.
Henry has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph. It is forecast to move west southwest at 25 kph and is expected to be 205 km west of Calayan, Cagayan by Tuesday morning.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised over the following areas:
- Batanes
- Northern portion of Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands
- Northern portion of Apayao
- Northern portion of Ilocos Norte
Occasional rains with gusty winds are expected over these areas.
The Southwest Monsoon, or habagat, will meanwhile bring monsoon rains over these areas:
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Mindoro Provinces
- Palawan
- Western Visayas
Scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
Residents are advised to monitor for weather updates, coordinate with local disaster risk and reduction management offices, and take precautions against floods and landslides.
