MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE 11 p.m.) — Vice President Leni Robredo described her closed-door courtesy call on President Rodrigo Duterte as "cordial."

In a press statement, Robredo said their meeting went well and she is grateful for the opportunity to talk with the president.

“Natutuwa tayo na nagkaroon tayo ng pagkakataong makausap ang ating pangulo,” she said after the meeting.

Robredo said she assured Duterte of her support for him and his administration as his success is also a triumph for the country.

“Mula simula, bukas po tayo sa pakikipagtulungan sa bagong administrasyon at ang aming pong naging pagpupulong ngayong hapon ng pangulo ay lalong nagpapatibay rito,” the vice president said.

The courtesy visit happened around 3:30 p.m on Monday at the Malacañan Study Room.

It was the second meeting of the two new top government officials following the Armed Forces of the Philippines turnover ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City last week.
