Manny Pacquiao on same sex marriage comment: I'm telling the truth

MANILA, Philippines - Boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao took to social media to explain his now-controversial stand against same sex marriage.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the 37-year-old athlete said he is "not condemning anything."

Rather, he added, "I'm just telling the truth of what the Bible says."

He went on to quote a verse from the Bible which says: " Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men."

 

 

The Instagram post comes after the Sarangani representative received flak for his anti-same sex marriage sentiments, as released in a video interview posted on the Bilang Pilipino Facebook page on Tuesday.

In the video, Pacquiao can seen saying: "Ngayon, kung lalaki sa lalaki o babae sa babae, mas masahol pa sa hayop ang tao."

Celebrities such as Vice Ganda, Aiza Seguerra, John Lapus and even America blogger and TV personality Perez Hilton have criticized Pacquiao over his comments.
