PhlPost features waterfalls in stamps

MANILA, Philippines - Five breathtaking but less known waterfalls in the country are featured on the third quarter topical stamps of the Philippine Postal Corp. (PhlPost).

Featured in the block of four stamps are the Balagbag Falls in Real, Quezon; Merloquet Falls in Zamboanga City; Tinago Falls in Lanao del Norte; and Asik-Asik Falls in North Cotabato.

The Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig, Surigao del Sur is featured on the souvenir sheet.

“This is the first time that we are featuring these waterfalls. This is our way of promoting less popular sites in the country,” said PhlPost marketing management and support services manager Enrique Tagle yesterday.

“The PhlPost is supportive of the Department of Tourism in promoting the beautiful scenic tourist destinations of the Philippines. The majestic waterfalls featured in this issuance should be known and explored by any Filipino and foreign tourists. We look forward to partnering with DOT,” he added.

The pictures of the waterfalls were provided by Funtastic Philippines Photography Club, a non-profit organization whose membership consists of travel and photography enthusiasts from all over the world. Their goal is to showcase the grandeur and beauty of the Philippines through photographs.

Amstar Co. printed 104,000 copies of the block of four special stamps, which would be sold at P10 each and 5,000 copies of the souvenir sheet, which costs P40 each.

The PhlPost started selling the special stamps on Sept. 22 and would continue to make them available to the public until Sept. 21, 2015 or until supply lasts.
