DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Xinhua) - A town mayor in the southern Philippines was wounded in an explosion this morning, a police official said.
Provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Rex dela Rosa said Dionisio Besana, mayor of Lebak town in Sultan Kudarat province, and his aide were hurt following the blast near the town hall at past 8 a.m., today.
Dela Rosa said the explosion originated from a motorcycle parked near the town hall. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
