Rains to continue in next 2 days

- Ghio Ong, Helen Flores -

MANILA, Philippines - Central and Southern Luzon, as well as Metro Manila, will continue to experience rainshowers in the next two to three days due to the southwest monsoon still being enhanced by tropical storm “Labuyo” which left the country on Saturday.

Robert Sawi, senior weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said no weather disturbance was forecast to affect the country in the next two to three days.

“Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience monsoon rains. The rest of the country will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms,” he said.

Sawi said cloudy skies with scattered rains would prevail over Visayas.

Mindanao, on the other hand, will experience improved weather in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Sawi said they are monitoring a tropical depression over the South China Sea which may enter the country in the next few days.

He said the weather disturbance is not expected to directly hit the country but will intensify the southwest monsoon that will bring rainshowers over Central and Northern Luzon.

Pagasa said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest and northwest with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms, it said.

Pagasa said Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao would experience rough to very rough seas.

Fishing boats and other small sea vessels were advised not to venture out to sea while larger vessels were alerted against big waves.

Tropical storm Labuyo (international name Dujuan) left the country on Saturday, leaving at least one person dead.
