House bill seeks use of non-lethal weapon for law enforcers

A bill filed at the House of Representatives seeks to require law enforcement agents to use non-lethal weapons as part of a total gun ban.

“One only needs to scan daily newspapers to see numerous accounts of victims and abuses by gun-toting individuals,” said Nueva Ecija Rep. Eduardo Nonato “Edno” Joson of House Bill 2206.

“Despite the regulation of gun ownership, gun-related violence continue unabated. Countless lives have been lost, in the realm of politics, business, ideology, religion and even in the personal affairs of the citizenry, because of the lack of a truly effective system for the control and use of guns and firearms.”

Joson said deadly weapons are accessible to almost everybody and therefore open to abuse.

“The times now call for a re-examination of our laws regarding the possession of guns and firearms,” he said. – Delon Porcalla
