Will Ashley calls Mika Salamanca his ‘safe space’

MANILA, Philippines — Will Ashley described Mika Salamanca as his “safe space” as he opened up about the status of their relationship and recalled how he initially asked for a chance to prove his intentions to the actress.

During his guest appearance on GTV's showbiz program “Chika Cart,” the actor was asked about his relationship with Mika, his co-star in an upcoming GMA afternoon series.

Asked directly about their current status by “Chika Authority” Jeff Fernando, Will said they were happy together.

“Kung anong meron kami ngayon, we’re very happy. ‘Yun lang ang masasabi ko sa ngayon,” he said.

Will also shared how Mika contributes to his happiness, describing the comfort he finds in their relationship.

“Sinabi ko rin ‘to sa isang interview ko, si Mika ‘yung safe space ko. Every time na magkasama kami, I’m happy, we’re happy. ‘Yun naman ‘yung nagma-matter talaga,” he said.

The actor also recalled his first attempt to ask Mika for a chance, which did not go as he had hoped.

According to Will, Mika was straightforward in explaining why she was not ready at the time. He acknowledged that her reasons made sense, particularly because things were moving too quickly.

“Nu’ng time kasi na ‘yun, talagang hindi pa ina-allow ng panahon, hindi pa rin ina-allow ng sitwasyon, and hindi ko rin naman talaga siya masisisi sa sagot niya nu’ng time na ‘yun. And actually, nag-make sense talaga nung mga time na ‘yun kasi sabi ko, oo nga, masyadong mabilis,” he said.

Rather than give up, Will decided to approach Mika again after a month, asking for time to show her what he could offer.

“After a month, nag-sabi ako sa kanya ng bigyan mo ko ng one month, ipapakita ko sa’yo ‘yung kaya ko,” he recalled.

Asked what changed between his first and second attempts, Will said he had learned to express his feelings more openly.

“Well siguro ngayon, natuto na akong mag-express ng feelings. Kasi parang ‘yung mindset ko, take the risk or lose the chance. All or nothing talaga,” he said.

He added that he believes in making the most of opportunities when they come, so he would have no regrets about not trying.
