Mandaluyong rice supplier blacklisted
MANILA, Philippines — The Mandaluyong government has blacklisted a supplier for reportedly delivering underweight sacks of rice distributed to city residents recently, Malacañang said on Monday.
Palace press officer Claire Castro said the city government decided to blacklist the supplier after discovering that 50 sacks contained only eight kilos of rice each instead of 10 kilos.
Castro did not identify the supplier.
She said President Marcos does not tolerate such incidents, stressing that beneficiaries must receive the full assistance intended for them.
Beneficiaries who received eight kilos of rice will be given an additional 10 kilos. The original sacks will not be taken back, Castro said.
She said the Mandaluyong government has also launched an investigation into the incident.
Earlier, some beneficiaries reported receiving only eight kilos instead of the intended 10 kilos of rice distributed under the initiative funded through the Local Government Support Fund.
