20,229 cops to secure Marcos SONA

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office will deploy 20,229 NCRPO personnel for the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Marcos on July 27.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin told The STAR that 9,700 personnel will be part of civil disturbance management, handling peace and order during protests.
According to Aberin, police will secure the Batasang Pambansa complex, Malacañang, the Senate, United States embassy, People Power Monument and EDSA Shrine.
He said since these are initial deployments, figures may still change depending on the situation in the run-up to the SONA.
Aberin said police have not monitored any serious threats to the SONA.
