Vin Diesel announces 4 'Fast & Furious' TV shows in development

MANILA, Philippines — The ride is far from over for the "Fast & Furious" franchise following news of severeal television series in the middle of pre-production.
Action star Vin Diesel, who appeared in all but two of the franchise's movies, announced onstage during NBCUniversal's upfront presentation last May 11 alongside comedian Jimmy Fallon that four shows were in development.
"We are very precious about these movies but over the last decade, we've realized that the fans have wanted more, they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories," Diesel said. "And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space."
Different sources told entertainment outlets Deadline, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter that only one series was confirmed to be by NBCUniversal's streaming service Peacock, with the others still being worked around within Universal Television.

Diesel will serve as an executive producer on the Peacock show which will be helmed by "Sons of Anarchy" and "One Tree Hill" screenwriter Mike Daniels alongside his "Shades of Blue" collaborator Wolfe Coleman.
Joining Diesel are Sam Vincent, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Chris Morgan, the latter a writer on several "Fast & Furious" movies.
The franchise is marking its silver anniversary this year and will celebrate with a special screening of the first movie during the Cannes Film Festival, with Diesel and Moritz both attending.
11 movies have been released so far, collectively earning over $7 billion (P428 billion) at the box office. The planned final entry "Fast Forever" is due for release in March 2028.
