Jennylyn Mercado shares simple Mother’s Day wish

This Mother’s Day, Jennylyn Mercado has a simple wish.
It’s a long life to spend with her loved ones.
“I’m no longer wishing for anything else except to stay healthy and live a longer life so I can spend more time with my children. I hope we don’t get sick because health is important. That way, I can continue doing everything I need to do — for myself, for my work, and for my family,” Jennylyn shared this during the relaunch event of Beautéderm’s Reverie Air Fabric Freshener at Solaire North on Wednesday.
The actress, who is married to fellow Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo, has a four-year-old daughter, Dylan, and 17-year-old son, Alex Jazz.
As a mother to a son (Jazz) on the autism spectrum, Jennylyn said it hasn’t been easy, but it can be done.
“Hindi madali pero kayang-kaya. Sa ngayon andami ng pwedeng gawin eh because of science – there’s stem cell (treatment), various therapies and schools that handle such situations. Hindi pwedeng hindi mo tutukan because you have a lot of options now and so much can already be done.”
She is also open to having another child after Dylan. “I don’t know yet, but why not? For those who knew my pregnancy story, meron po talaga akong akong isang boy na buo na sa Texas (frozen embryo).
“Kung maisipan ko man, siguro siya na lang kasi sabi niya, ‘Ano ba yan? Napag-iwanan na ako. Matagal pa si Dylan sa akin, mas nauna naman ako sa kanya.’ Haha! I’m considering but I can’t say right now. Kung talagang ibibigay at buo na ang desisyon namin na sige pwede pa isa.”
But for now, the celebrity couple are enjoying watching Dylan grow and want to focus on her. “Mas maganda yung naka-focus kami sa kanya because her older brothers are teenagers already.”
Moreover, Jennylyn advised mothers who want to return to their careers to learn how to balance motherhood and work.
“Time is fleeting. The children grow up so fast at maganda rin na na-enjoy muna nila (childhood). Let’s admit that life is hard, so we need to work and return to our careers. There’s no problem with going back to your career. What’s important is hindi mo napapabayaan ang pamilya mo,” she reflected.
“You can always go back to your career anytime, if you want to. It just depends on how you balance your time and divide it between your children and your work.”
Jennylyn, meanwhile, teased her fans that she will star in a new soap opera before the year ends, along with a new album under Star Music that will include a music video.
She will be celebrating her birthday this May 15. She wished good health for everyone and for her Beautéderm family.
During her opening remarks, brand owner Rhea Anicoche-Tan thanked loyal customers for the past 16 years.
“Beyond its appeal, Beautéderm has evolved into a brand that supports growth from various homes and when we define home we mean what’s within rather than what’s on the outside,” she said.
“Our Reverie line is designed for those who appreciate the comfort, the calmness, the strength and the character of a welcoming space and to the ultimate star and the new face of Reverie is Ms. Jennylyn Mercado.
“Thank you for sincerely bringing Reverie into your home. And beyond the beauty of Reverie is a desire to shine the brightest in the most humble way possible in the comfort of your own home and amidst the social media chaos,” she added.
Rhea likewise clarified that she will not run for any political positions in the upcoming elections. She recently donated a full tank of gas to delivery and tricycle drivers in Pampanga as part of her charity work.
“Kahit sa Ilocos ini-imbitahan na ako kasi pamilya po namin, Ramos, talagang politician na po including my grandfather. Pero hindi po as in never po. I don’t have any plans. I will continue doing charity work. Pwede ka naman pong tumulong kahit hindi ka nakaupo,” she said, denying speculations.
Jennylyn also shared that she felt the effects of the fuel oil price increase, and they even had to sell a car.
“We sold a car because we no longer wanted to use it due to the very high price of gasoline. Imagine, yung sasakyan na yun P10,000 per full tank. My husband, (whenever) nagsho-shooting, would have to travel for three and a half-hours and another three and a half-hours pabalik every day. Ang mahal talaga.”
