Hyun Bin, Jung Woo Sung’s rivalry heats up in ‘Made in Korea’ Season 2

Disney+ teased the second installment of “Made in Korea” with the release of several dramatic images featuring the returning lead stars Hyun Bin, Jung Woo Sung and Woo Do Hwan.
The six-episode K-drama premiered back in December 2024, releasing weekly episodes until its Jan. 14 finale. It quickly became a major success, becoming the most-viewed Korean Original premiere of 2025 on Disney+ across the Asia-Pacific region. It was also named by TIME’s as one of the “Most Anticipated K-Dramas of 2026.”
Following that success, the streamer confirmed that a second season would arrive later this year.
The series captured the attention of audiences worldwide, not just for its gripping storytelling but also for its brooding atmosphere and complex characters entangled in webs of corruption, loyalty, revenge and political drama.
Season 2 is said to be set nine years after the explosive events of the pilot season.
The creative team behind the hit series is also returning, including writer Park Eun Kyo and director Woo Min Ho, whose past work includes Hyun Bin’s film “Harbin.” Their reunion raised expectations among fans eager to see the next chapter unfold.
During a virtual mediacon attended by The STAR earlier this year, Hyun Bin expressed confidence in working again with the acclaimed director. He praised the director for bringing out new sides of his performances.
The character of Ki Tae, played by Hyun Bin, lives a dangerous double life as a KCIA government agent and a businessman involved in drug smuggling and other criminal dealings. While his rise to power made him more dangerous than ever, it also exposed his vulnerable side with enemies closing in.
Meanwhile, the character Jang Geon Yeong, played by Jung Woo Sung, was once a promising prosecutor, but he has fallen behind his peers and carries the scars of betrayal. Determined to reclaim his place and destroy Ki Tae, Geon Young enters the new season fueled by anger and unfinished business.
Woo Do Hwan, on the other hand, reprises his role as Hyun Bin’s younger brother in Season 2.
“I would say that compared to the first season, it’s going to get even more intense and even more extreme in terms of the level of conflict,” Hyun Bin was quoted in a TV Insider interview.
“Obviously, it is expected that there is probably going to be somebody who gets a little ahead of the other person at the end of Season 1,” Jung Woo Song added.
“And then, you know, compared to, I guess, the ‘winner,’ so to speak, the person who didn’t get to do that is going to be filled with a lot of anger, and that’s going to be maybe a driver for future storytelling.”
With both main leads ready to stake it all, Season 2 hints at even fiercer clashes. Season 1 of “Made in Korea” is now streaming exclusively on Disney+, while more details on the highly anticipated second season are expected soon.
The first season ended with Ki Tae successfully securing a drug deal with the Ikeda Clan. He earned a promotion within the KCIA and pledged loyalty to the president. At the same time, Geon Young was framed while his family was threatened, leaving him humiliated and determined to fight back. The finale set up a harsh imbalance of power that Season 2 is expected to confront head-on.
