Alfred Vargas' wife files 20 counts of cyber libel raps over posts about family

MANILA, Philippines — Alfred Vargas’ wife, Yasmine, has filed 20 counts of cyber libel against individuals spreading fake news about their family.
Yasmine complained about false social media posts against her, Alfred and their children.
According to the councilor’s wife, she had to do this as a mother to protect their family and that she will not just remain silent.
Yasmine, however, did not specify the identities of the individuals she filed the case against.
She added that they have now filed 20 counts of cyber libel after attempts to resolve the matter peacefully in February failed.
Yasmine thanked supporters and asked the public to choose kindness and avoid spreading hatred, rumors, or hurtful words online.
“Bullying, in any form, has no place in our community," she said.
It can be recalled that on April 13, Alfred and Yasmine also filed a complaint with the Office of the City Prosecutor of Manila against the parents of a minor who allegedly bullied and abused their child during swimming training.
