‘Totoy Bato’ star Kiko Estrada delighted to grant family’s wishes

Time flies.
Last year, Kiko Estrada had a virtual chat with this paper for his drama-action series titled “Totoy Bato.” He was just then learning the ropes of the genre — and eventually, he flexed his muscles in it.
Two days ago, the young actor, along with his co-stars and directors, graced a media conference to announce the show’s finale week.
The latter will commence on Monday and conclude on Friday. The primetime show has so far aired more than 200 episodes.
When he met his friends from print and digital media, Kiko was a picture of gladness and gratitude for the successful run of the show and the support from the viewers.
Asked what he does after wrapping up a show, Kiko said to The STAR in a group interview following the presscon, “Nung una kasi nung ‘Lumuhod (Ka sa Lupa),’ walang break (when I finished my previous show prior to ‘Totoy Bato,’ I never had a break). Pinalitan ko yung sarili ko sa prime (my new show then, ‘Totoy Batoy,’ replaced ‘Lumuhod’). (This time), it’s gonna be a new experience.”

“Siguro pahinga ng konti, pero gaya ng sinabi ni (Ms.) Eula kanina, nabitin ako dun sa experience ng ‘Totoy’ (maybe I will rest a bit for some time, but like what actress Eula Valdez said earlier, I wanted to have more time doing the show). So, ganado tayong gumawa at ganado at gutom tayo na gumawa ng isang magandang project para sa primetime (I’m inspired and eager to do another worthwhile project for primetime),” added he.
After the show, Kiko said he was also considering spending more time working out as a personal activity.
“Kasi ang hirap isabay yung healthy lifestyle ‘pag nasa o ‘pag may taping ka (it’s challenging to have a more healthy lifestyle when taping for a show),” said he, “kasi yung oras ng taping usually alam nyo na magdamagan po (since work on set is overnight). I just take care of myself and take a short break,” shared he.
His allotted time to recharge his batteries may range from a month to three at the most, said he.
During the group chat, Kiko also expressed his interest in working with dad, actor Gary Estrada, in an acting project. Some wanted to see them collaborate on “Totoy Bato.” Hopefully, everything aligns with them when the chance presents itself.
Since he will be on a hiatus, Kiko was also asked about having time for love and romance.
“Focus tayo sa trabaho. Tayo’y masaya ngayon (I focus on work and I’m happy). Tayo’y focus sa trabaho,” said he.
“Masaya, masaya. Sobrang saya ng puso ni Kiko Estrada ngayon. (I’m happy and his heart is very delighted),” added he.
Perhaps among the reasons is the nearly one-year airing of “Totoy Bato,” which, according to its publicity team, “remains a consistent favorite among viewers, delivering gripping storytelling, high-stakes drama and relentless action night after night.”
And its finale episodes will have an intensified story that follows “the death of Don Silvio Castillo, with Dwayne Perez (played by Diego Loyzaga) rising to power and tightening his control over the Castillo empire,” it added. “With tensions at an all-time high, the ultimate question remains: who will prevail in the explosive clash between Totoy (Kiko) and Dwayne?”
As for his way of rewarding himself for a job well-done, Kiko shared that he gifts himself a bike, perhaps as a part of his fitness regimen.
“Bumibili ako ng bike. Nag-bi-bike po ako. Health is wealth,” said he.
Kiko is also pleased when he grants the wishes of family.
“Siguro ‘pag nabibigay ko yung mga gusto ng mga family members ko, mga loved ones ko sa kanila (maybe when I’m able to give what my family members and loved ones want),” said he. “Magaan sa loob. Favorite ko yun kapag nabibigyan mo yung nanay mo ng paborito o gusto niyang sapatos o simpleng bagay lang naman (it feels good, and my favorite thing to do is giving my mom her favorite shoes or simple things). Natutuwa po ako ‘pag nabibigay ko po sa kanila yun (I feel happy when I grant their wishes),” concluded he.
