MANILA, Philippines — First-time mom Ria Atayde beamed with glee as she shared her journey to motherhood. The actress is married to actor Zanjoe Marudo, and they have a one-year-old son, Sabino.

“I love it. It’s the best (feeling),” Ria told The STAR and another media outlet during the premiere of the series “The Silent Noise” starring Zanjoe.

“I think it’s finding your groove again and figuring out your new person.”

Ria shared that she and Zanjoe are hands-on parents. “We’re still figuring the strict part out. Our baby is only 17 months so wala pa kami dun sa discipline but I’d like to think we’re both hands-on. We’re both really present,” she added.

She also felt blessed to be surrounded by fellow moms who supported her throughout her motherhood journey. “Be it my aunt, my mom and then my friends. They are also moms that really helped a lot. Like I really have a full and proper village that’s helping me navigate this new world of mine.”

Ria believes that being a mom is more than just the physical, one should also take care of their mental health.

“I think they go hand in hand,” she reflected. “And I think that’s a lot to do with finding time for yourself even if it’s a quick 30-minute, 15-minute workout whatever time is permitted for you.  And I think things like that really help in kind of reminding you that you’re still your own person in the minds of every role that you have.”

Ria had been doing Pilates prior to her pregnancy and continues to do so. She has also restarted tennis and recently learned pickleball as part of her fitness routine.

Meanwhile, “The Silent Noise” is now streaming on Prime Video, directed by Onat Diaz and co-produced with ABS-CBN Studios. Angelica Panganiban plays Zanjoe’s wife in the series.

According to the synopsis, the thriller series follows a family unraveling under the weight of secrets where silence offers no protection. When tragedy strikes, suspicions resurface, and relationships are tested, forcing each member to confront truths they’ve avoided for years. As the mystery deepens, the story reveals how love, loyalty and silence can shape destinies in unexpected ways.

“You know I find peace in privacy, in keeping your family life private and I think that’s what we’ve done so far,” Ria told this paper on how she protects her family from “the noise.” “And you know you can be a public figure and still have a private life and I strongly believe in that. You know not every detail of your life has to be shared and I think that’s a way to protect your family from the noise, especially since we’re both public figures.”

During the blue carpet celebrity premiere and grand mediacon at Gateway Mall 2, Ria showed her support for her husband and expressed how proud she is of him.

“I’m always proud to see my husband shine at what he does best,” she reacted after watching the pilot episode. “And even more seeing his partnership with Angelica like you can see naman grabe yung chemistry nila. It really works and I’m grateful that they have each other in this crazy industry of ours. I’m just also so proud that they’re both back in both doing a series given na matagal sila na nawala sa series.”

Ria said she doesn’t stop Zanjoe from taking on projects that involve love teams. “This is our work and nag-meet kami, artist na siya.

“I mean we’re both actors so I understand what comes with the territory of being an actor and that means being paired with many people, hindi naman kami yung mga taong may love team.”
