Filipino singer earns Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer in ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

MANILA, Philippines — Another Filipino singer wowed the “Britain’s Got Talent” stage with his cover of a Prince hit, earning him an express ticket in the reality TV show.
Matty Juniosa impressed the hard-to-impress Simon Cowell with his rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain.”
Juniosa was introduced on the show as a 27-year-old waiter from the Philippines. He revealed that he has been living in Glasgow for the past three years, working as a part-time waiter.
Juniosa, a former “Idol Philippines” finalist, was a ball of energy as he interacted with judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Cowell.
The Filipino singer wowed the crowd with his Prince cover, prompting a standing ovation. It did not take long for Cowell to press his golden buzzer, an act that guarantees a contestant a place in the live shows, for Juniosa.
“That was so good. You know that was one of my favorite songs,” Cowell told Juniosa on stage.
The 2026 edition is the 19th series of the “Britain’s Got Talent,” one of the many “Got Talent” franchises in the world.
