Kapuso grand treat in Sinulog

MANILA, Philippines — Just like in previous years, the recently-held Sinulog Festival was colorful, grand and packed with events for all Cebuanos as well as foreign and local tourists to enjoy. GMA 7 once again participated in the annual celebration held in honor of the Sto. Niño with a series of mall shows and meet-and-greet events with fans.

The upcoming GMA primetime drama series Kara Mia lead stars Barbie Forteza, Mika dela Cruz, Jak Roberto and Paul Salas drew a large crowd in the afternoon of Jan. 18 at Gaisano Grand Mall Jai Alai Cebu City. The group also treated fans to song-and-dance numbers during the Kapuso Fiesta held at the Ayala Center Cebu together with Inagaw na Bituin stars Kyline Alcantara and Therese Malvar.

The following day, thousands flocked to the Gaisano Grand Fiesta Mall Tabunok in Talisay City and at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu to witness the star-studded events graced by Cain at Abel’s Dingdong Dantes, Dennis Trillo, Solenn Heussaff and Sanya Lopez.

The fun continued on Jan. 20 as Dingdong, Dennis, Sanya and Solenn participated the Sinulog Grand Parade aboard the Kapuso Float that toured the major streets of Cebu City.

Kapuso mall events were organized by GMA Regional TV with live coverage via Pit Senyor: The Balitang Bisdak Special, hosted by Bobby Nalzaro, Alan Domingo and Cecile Quibod-Castro, together with correspondents Chona Carreon, Lou Ann Mae Rondina and Nikko Sereno. Also present during the shows were GMA Regional TV VP and head Oliver Amoroso, GMA TV Cebu station manager Ann Marie Tan, GMA Entertainment TV program manager Hazel Abonita, GMA 7 Corporate Communications’ Jojo Aquio and Irene Fernando.

“We believe our regional viewers play a crucial role in our success. This is why we remain committed to giving them quality shows and activities on ground, on TV and now even online,” said Oliver.

Meanwhile, Dingdong shared that his contract under GMA Network will expire this month. And as expected, Dingdong was asked during Sinulog Festival if he is negotiating for a possible transfer to another network. “Si manager (Perry Lansigan) kasi ang makakasagot n’yan. Sa ngayon kasi focus muna ako sa Cain at Abel. But I’m looking forward to do more things this year and happy naman ako sa GMA ngayon,” said Dingdong.

Perry denied the rumor, but he shared that Dingdong will work again with Star Cinema. “He is set to do two more movies with Star Cinema, ‘yun ang natatandaan ko.”

Aside from Cain at Abel, Dingdong also hosts the weekend top-rater Amazing Earth.
