MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Manila Film Festival has revealed on Friday the official entries to this year’s film fest.

Starring Pia Wurtzbach, Vice Ganda and Daniel Padilla, this superhero flick is directed by Joyce Bernal and is a co-production between Viva Films and Star Cinema.

'Ang Panday' (Star Cinema, CCM Productions)

Also referred to as “Carlo J. Caparas’ Ang Panday,” this epic fantasy action movie has been based on the popular Filipino comic book character Caparas made along with Steve Gan. This seventh installment of the famed “Panday” series stars Coco Martin and marks his first directorial debut using his real name, Rodel Nacianceno.

'Meant To Beh' (OctoArts Films, M-Zet Productions, APT Entertainment)

Directed by Chris Martinez, this movie marks the reunion of Vic Sotto and Dawn Zulueta 30 years since they last worked together in the fantasy comedy series, “Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!” in 1995.

'All of You' (Quantum Films, MJM Productions)

Following the success of “English Only, Please,” Jennylyn Mercado and Derek Ramsay return to making another romantic comedy, this time, helmed by director Dan Villegas and distributed and produced by Quantum Films and MJM Productions.

'Deadma Walking' (T-Rex Productions)

Based on the Palanca Award-winning script of Eric Cabahug, this comedy features real-life friends Edgar Allan Guzman and Joross Gamboa. The story revolves around two gay best friends, one a closet gay and the other, a flamboyant one who dabbles as showgirl.

'Siargao' (TEN17P)

Directed by Paul Soriano and produced by his own film outfit, TEN17P, this movie marks the director’s first foray into romance. Erich Gonzales, Jericho Rosales and Jasmine Curtis-Smith star in this love triangle set against the picturesque surfing destination.

'Haunted Forest' (Regal Films)

Helmed by “Mano Po 7: Chinoy” director Ian Loreños, this horror flick with a tinge of teen romance stars Hashtags member Jon Lucas, James Blake, Maris Racal and Jane Oineza.

'Ang Larawan' (Culturtain)

Based on National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin’s play “A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino,” this musical movie stars Paulo Avelino, Joanna Ampil and Rachel Alejandro.

Set in Intramuros before the World War II, the movie is about sisters Paula (Alejandro) and Candida (Ampil) who took in a border (Avelino) to augment their household’s income after their artist father was no longer able to produce artworks.

Organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the MMFF will start showing the eight finalists on Christmas, December 25.
