John Lapus believes Ai Ai, Direct Wenn will settle rift

John Lapus believes that Ai Ai delas Alas and director Wenn Deramas will eventually settle their mosunderstanding about the Metro Manila Film Festival top grossing film issue.

MANILA, Philippines - John Lapus believes that Ai Ai delas Alas and Wenn Deramas will eventually settle their misunderstanding.

Recently, the Kapuso actress and the popular comedy director had a misunderstanding about the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) top grosser. Ai Ai is part of "My Bebe Love," while Wenn directed "Beauty and the Bestie."

Ai Ai claims that as per their producer, they're topping the MMFF box office race, adding that they didn't "cheat" to be on top. While the director defended his film saying they don't need to cheat to lead the box office race.

"I saw it coming," said Sweet, John's nickname, when asked about his friends' misunderstanding in an interview on Thursday. "The moment na nabasa ko 'yong interview ni Ai Ai nakaramdam na ako na may mangyayari."

Yet he believes that his friends could settle whatever differences they have at the moment.

"Hindi na ako nakikisawsaw kasi minsan ako pa nadadamay. Ang ending ako naiipit," he explained. "Nakita ko kung gaano sila ka-close, gaano sila katibay, ang kanilang friendship. I'm sure na maayos din nila 'to."

All he hopes now is for the MMFF executive committee to release the breakdown of each entry's earnings for the whole festival run, which is from December 25 to January 7.

"Nagtataka talaga ako, hindi ko alam sino makakasagot, bakit for the first time in years hindi nila nilabas ang breakdown," he said. "From the past years nilalagay naman nila ang actual na kita ng bawat pelikula."

"Honestly, kung ginawa 'yon ng MMDA baka hindi na nagsalita si Ai Ai. Kung ginawa ng MMDA 'yon wala sanang issue between Ai Ai and Star Cinema," he concluded.

Sweet is part of TV5 and Viva Entertainment's upcoming TV series "Tasya Fantasya," which stars Shy Carlos and Mark Neumann. It will air every Saturday starting February 6, 8 p.m. on TV5.
