WATCH: Official 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' trailer bared

MANILA, Philippines — Walt Disney Studios on Tuesday released the trailer of much-awaited seventh installment to the epic space opera "Star Wars."

The official trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" directed by JJ Abrams runs for 2 minutes and 35 seconds and features the music of John Williams, who returns to compose the score.

"The Force Awakens" is the first film in a new trilogy after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in October 2012.

In just five hours after its release, the trailer gained 341,555 views on video sharing site YouTube.

The film is set to be released in December. — Camille Diola
