Kris ‘no comment’ on Mayor Bistek

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Unless the wind blows the wrong way, the shoot for All You Need is Pag-ibig (tentative?) will start on Friday, Oct. 23.

You see, the official Star Cinema entry in the Metro Filmfest in December has been going through changes that it’s not safe to say what’s definite and what’s not, depending on the mood of its lead star, Kris Aquino.

Initially, the movie was titled Mr. & Mrs. Split, inspired by the off-and-on “work in progress” between Kris and Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista, famously known as Kristek. The movie suffered delays when Kris became sickly and barely had time to finish her scenes in Etiquette for Mistresses, also from Star Cinema (still showing in some theaters).

Anyway, to make a roller-coaster story short, according to latest reports Bistek is out of the movie, with Antoinette Jadaone still as director (she’s behind the hit movie That Thing Called Tadhana and the hit Kapamilya soap On The Wings Of Love that turned its stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre, a.k.a. JaDine, the network’s hottest young love team). Derek Ramsay (who made a “surprise” appearance as Kris’ partner in Etiquette) is in. Did Bistek heave a sigh of relief?

The project is in danger of being plagued with more changes that even Star Cinema supervising producer Malou Santos doesn’t answer calls or text inquiries about the cast which has also been undergoing a merry-go-round. Are Xian Lim and Kim Chiu in…or out? Is JaDine in…or out? Are Richard Yap and Jodi Santamaria in…or out? I guess we’ll never know until Dec. 25 when the Metro Filmfest begins.

“I’m not allowed to answer any question,” Kris texted Funfare back.

She has been “burned” kasi. When Funfare broke the scoop that Derek was replacing Bistek, Star Cinema management accused Kris of being the source. (Malou, hindi si Kris ang nagdaldal. You should have looked closely at the people around you, straight in the eye, hehehe!)

Showbiz is no longer an issue between Kristek. Neither is politics.

In a recent interview, Bistek was quoted as saying, referring to Kris, “She also wants me to run for reelection. She told me that if I decided to run for the Senate, then she will also help me.”

Bistek has filed his COC (Certificate Of Candidacy) for reelection last week.

In a recent post in her Instagram, Kris said, “Mayor Bautista last December had asked to be included in the Liberal Party Senate Slate.

“To directly quote P-Noy, ‘He isn’t turning down the offer. He asked to be included in the slate.’ Obviously, he had a change of heart.

Wala po akong influence in HB’s decision making. I NEVER ASKED HIM TO SEEK A 3RD TERM AS QUEZON CITY MAYOR. I have no influence on him and he has never given value to my feelings nor my thoughts.” (Note: The all-caps portion is as Kris wrote it in her Instagram.)

So what’s the real score?

This was all that Kris texted Funfare in answer to my inquiry:

“Regarding Bistek: I want to live a positive life so I refuse to dwell on the negative. Not worth the stress.”

Does she have any favorite presidentiable?

“Regarding politics, bawal mag-comment except to say I am with Noy and will always be a supportive sister.”

As Kris said in her Instagram, “I’ve tried my very best to steer clear of politics because I don’t want to be branded as a meddling sister.”

Oh, by the way, Kris and Star Cinema have already patched things up. No need to mention what that was. Case closed… as of this moment.

2016 campaign trail is as starry as ever

Showbiz and politics have ceased to be strange bedfellows. As you know, the two have become cozy bedmates.
