Man and nature on Solar News’ Stories

MANILA, Philippines - This week, Solar News Channel turns its focus on man and nature.

Gorilla Whisperer is a one-hour special that tells the story of Makumba, a siverback gorilla reigning over the jungles of Congo for more than 10 years.

Makumba displays a terrifying amount of power but has been tame to scientist Angelique Todd. For a decade, Todd is on a mission to infiltrate the home and hearts of the gorilla troop to decode the mysteries surrounding this secretive species.

A Thai woman is saving elephants that experienced brutal abuse because of tourism in Elephant Whisperer. But she is just fulfilling a promise that she will stand up for elephants and save them from human terror and abuse.

In Chimp Mommy, meet Gini Val who claims her life is bananas. She has been a professional primate caregiver for more than 40 years and gets hired to baby-raise infant chimps in the event that a birth mother rejects her young.

Stories also goes inside the world of Amazing Plants. Scientists and experts, together with time-lapse and other specialist photography, reveal the skills and tricks that plants use to survive and thrive, using senses such as touch and smell to detect danger, attract food or even control the behavior of insects.

Gorilla Whisperer airs tonight, Elephant Whisperer tomorrow, Chimp Mommy on Thursday and Amazing Plants on Friday, all at 8 p.m., on Solar News Channel.
