Matteo on Sarah: 'She deserves to be happy'

MANILA, Philippines - â€œWhatever Sarah and I have, we want to keep it personal.â€

Thus said Matteo Guidicelli when asked about the status of his relationship with the actress-singer during the press conference of ABS-CBN's upcoming reality show â€œPromil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Campâ€ on Monday, June 16.

Recently, netizens have been seeing photos of Matteo and rumored girlfriend Sarah on social media. Last month, Ryan Agoncillo posted a photo of himself with wife Judy Ann Santos, Matteo and Sarah on his Instagram account.

One of Matteo's biking buddies also posted a photo of rumored couple with friends on Instagram earlier this month, making fans and netizens speculate that the two are already beginning to open up about their relationship.

But the ABS-CBN talent remains mum on the topic, saying he wants to respect Sarah's parents and their decision.

â€œI would love to talk, I would like to be honest and everything. But I also want to respect her parents. I just want to keep quiet,â€ Matteo said.

He added, â€œAs much as possible I don't want to involve work because it's just gonna make everything a little more confusing.â€

The 24-year-old actor said he and Sarah are thankful for the positive comments they've been receiving over their photos on social media. â€œI'm very, very happy. Sarah and I are very, very happy,â€ he said.

However, Matteo further explained, â€œBut I don't want to divulge too much because I want to respect her parents and her parents' decision also. But in the future, when the time is right, everybody will know.â€

As for Sarah spending time with his friends, Matteo shared he's happy the â€œMaybe This Timeâ€ actress is slowly â€œbeing exposed to different people.â€ In a previous TV interview, Matteo said Sarah's parents have allowed the singer to go out with her.

â€œDapat lang, di ba? Sarah's 25, she can do what she wants to do. She's blessed, very blessed, and she deserves it all,â€ Matteo said.

â€œShe deserves to be happy. She deserves to do what she wants to do.â€

On comments that Sarah currently looks happy because of him, Matteo said: â€œI don't think it's because of me. I think it's her, she deserves all the credit. She's 25, she just wants to be an independent woman now.â€

â€œIt's all up to her, you know. She's growing and I'm very, very proud of her. We're excited to see Sarah Geronimo, a 25-year-old Sarah Geronimo.â€

Matteo spoke to the press during the media launch of the third year of the â€œPromil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp.â€ Matteo joins actress Dimples Romana and Xian Lim as the show's hosts.

The show is a reality talent show for children aged four to seven.

They are joined by celebrities mentors Georcelle Dapat-Sy of G-Force for dancing, Zsa Zsa Padilla for singing, and Angel Locsin for acting.

â€œPromil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Campâ€ premieres Saturday, June 28.
