Susan Roces doesn't take 'Philippine Movie Queen' title seriously

MANILA, Philippines- Susan Roces says she doesn't take seriously the title “Queen of Philippine Movies.”

During the press conference of her upcoming show “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon” which will start airing on June 16, Roces was asked for her opinion on what makes a movie queen.

“Sa totoo lang, hindi ko siniseryoso ang titulo na 'yan. I think iyon ay [ibinansag sa akin] dahil nabansagan ng King of Philippine Movies si Ronnie, my husband," referring to her deceased husband, "The King" Fernando Poe Jr.. 

“So I really don't know and I don't take it seriously, honestly. I think it's a sign of respect to me because of my age- I cant be called a princess!” she even joked.

Meanwhile, when the cast were being introduced, the lead star of the show Bea Alonzo was tagged as “Today's Philippine Movie Queen.”

Being the “Philippine Movie Queen,” Roces said Bea have worked for the title “through the series of projects na talagang pinaghirapan niya.”

She even said that she's honored to be working with Bea.

“Malaking karangalan na gawin ito, na makasama si Bea sa project na 'to,” she said. “Matagal kong sinubaybayan ang kanyang pagsikat. Isa ako sa mga fans ni Bea sa mga teleserye niya. So malaking karangalan na makasama siya ngayon.”
