Ruffa: Age doesn’t matter

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

If age doesn’t matter to Ruffa Gutierrez, what about height?

“Neither does it,” said Ruffa who falls for a guy (played by Coco Martin) far shorter than she in Star Cinema’s Maybe This Time, opening nationwide on Wednesday, May 28, with Sarah Geronimo completing the love triangle. Well, if Nicole Kidman didn’t care when she was still with Tom Cruise who was a bit shorter than she, why would Ruffa?

In Maybe This Time, Ruffa gets to deliver what promises to be quotables, such as (to Sarah): “…you lying, back-stabbing, boyfriend-snatching witch!” This early, Ruffa is begging for understanding from Sarah’s fans, “Please understand. Sa pelikula lang po ‘yon. In real life, close kami ni Sarah.”

By the way, Ruffa begged off from answering the question if, in real life, a shorter guy has ever dared court her, although she gamely answered only selected questions of what would have been a “sexy talk” and skipped the other items…lest she incriminated herself (hehehe!)?

At this point in your life, do you prefer a younger man (as also happens in the movie directed by Jerry Sineneng from a story by Anton Santamaria and Melai Monge)?

“I have no preference in dating someone who’s younger or older. As with height, age is of no importance unless you are a cheese. What’s essential is the feelings and love shared, maturity, the connection and if you’re compatible and serious with each other.”

Is it okay for you to spend for a date and how much are you willing to spend for a guy?

“I am an independent woman who can take care of myself but when it comes to dating, I appreciate the old-fashioned way --- flowers, chocolates and a gentleman who picks up the bill especially on the first few dates and in the beginning of a relationship. In time, I am happy to spoil my man because love is priceless.”

Aside from chocolates and shorts (as you mentioned in Vice Ganda’s show Gandang Gabi, Vice two Sundays ago), what else would you give a guy?

“First of all, I don’t give a guy gifts unless we are seriously dating or he is my boyfriend.”

Who are your crushes (lang naman) among the young actors?

“Hmmmmm....uhhhmmmmm...well...Wala akong maisip. Coco Martin, since I’ve spent a lot of time with him lately. LOL!”
