Kuh Ledesma graces art exhibit

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Kuh Ledesma takes a breather from her busy schedule to grace an art exhibit at the Altro Mondo Gallery in Greenbelt 5, Makati City. The exhibit, titled Remnants, features the work of the very talented and young artist Niccolo Jose.

“I’ve always supported young and promising artists. I love various forms of art. Niccolo’s work is very interesting because it combines art and nature,” says the pop diva.

“Also, aside from preserving the environment, the kind of art he does also helps promote Filipino wood, which is unique from other types of wood elsewhere in the world. It’s something that’s ours,” she adds.

“I work with wood, but I don’t cut down trees,” explains the 26-year-old artist. “Everything that I use is recycled wood that’s 50 to 300 years old. They’re all from old houses, mga riles ng tren, so nothing is really cut. Everything is collected.”

Niccolo’s Remnants at the Altro Mondo Gallery is a follow-up to his successful exhibit last year, which showcased one-of-a-kind furniture pieces made from wood. The exhibit will run until Sept. 15.
