Bamboo: No regrets over ‘The Voice PH’ decisions

Bamboo Mañalac

MANILA, Philippines - Rocker Bamboo Mañalac said he does not regret any decisions he has made over the course of the blind auditions of the ABS-CBN reality singing show “The Voice of the Philippines.”

The show was a hot topic over the weekend when, in one of its recent episodes, Aia de Leon, the former vocalist of the band Imago, failed to get the vote of any of the four coaches during its initial blind auditions.

“I can’t say that was a regret kasi nangyari but that was a hard day for me,” he said.

Bad song choice, Bamboo explained, became Aia’s downfall.

“Ako, totoo lang, song choice lang e. Song choice ang malaki sa akin kasi you’re telling us what kind of artist you are,” he said.

“I second guess, yes, but never regret.”

In “The Voice of the Philippines, the coaches (Bamboo, Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo, and apl.d.ap) pick members of their teams without seeing those auditioning until after they give them their vote.

Bamboo spoke to the press on Wednesday to promote B/Y Request, his concert with fellow Kapamilya artist Yeng Constantino.

Would he “turn” for Yeng had she auditioned for “The Voice”?

“I think I would. When you sit on that chair, you have no idea. But I think I would. I would see that artist (in her) there,” Bamboo said.

He added: “Hindi ko alam kung paano ko nagawa pero besides from having great hearts, lahat ng nakuha ko play an instrument, lahat sila songwriter. So I think she belongs in my team, if ever.”

B/Y Request is set on August 17, Saturday, at the Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City.
