Cinemalaya bares short film finalists

MANILA, Philippines - The Cinemalaya Foundation has announced the finalists for the Short Film Category of the 2012 Cinemalaya Competition.

The 10 finalists are Bohe: Son of the Sea by Nadjoua Bansil; Ang Paghihintay sa Bulong, Sigrid Andrea Bernardo; Pasahero, Mario Celeda; As He Sleeps, Sheron Dayoc; Sarong Aldaw, Marianito Dio Jr.; Balintuna, Emmanuel Escalona Jr.; Ruweda, Hannah Espia; Ulian (Senility), Chuck Gutierrez; Manenaya (Waiting), Seymour Sanchez and Richard Legaspi; and Victor, Jarell Serencio.

The Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition seeks to discover, encourage and honor the cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers that boldly articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic integrity.

Cinemalaya 2012 will be held on July 20 to 29 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. It is a project of the Cinemalaya Foundation, Inc. Cinemalaya also features the Short Feature competition category as well as film exhibitions, seminars, conference, the Cinemalaya Film Congress and other film-related events.
