Moving Closer to Pinoy's heart

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - “Inch by inch we’re moving closer/Feels like a fairytale ending/Take my heart this is the moment/I’m moving closer to you” sings Ace Libre, lead vocalist and keyboardist of Never the Strangers for Moving Closer, the latest Close-up jingle and the second single from the band’s debut album.

Slowly turning into the national anthem for Filipinos in love, the song has that certain charm that will make you sigh. Moving Closer was recently heard at the Close-up Pyromusical last March 17 as the brand’s latest jingle.

“When I wrote Moving Closer, I imagined a scene where a guy and girl were falling for each other — everything in slow motion. I have this thing for scenes like that. There’s that obvious element of romance, drama and the idea of ‘the moment,’” shares Ace, who wrote the song in less than 24 hours.

Never the Strangers, formerly known as Leonecast is made up of Ateneans Ace, lead vocals and keyboards; PJ LaViña, drums and percussion; Francis Victa, bassist; and JP del Mundo, guitars. Rico Blanco discovered the group through the band’s Myspace page and its music and talent caught his attention.

It is unusual for new groups to attract a large following, but Never the Strangers has managed to move closer to the hearts of Filipinos. Perhaps, this is an indication that Never the Strangers is a group to look forward to.

Never the Strangers’ self-titled debut album is available at all record stores nationwide.
