Christian and 'living it'

FUNFARE UPDATE - Ricky Lo -

It was a wedding, after all, a Christian wedding in which Pia Guanio and her businessman boyfriend Steve Mago sealed their relationship for better or for worse, ‘till…and not just a “blessing” as Funfare Update reported in a “scoop” yesterday. The garden wedding, officiated by Pastor Paolo Punzalan (the late Helen Vela’s son by ex-husband Orly Punzalan, in photo with his wife Jen), was solemnized at the garden of Steve’s parents’ house in Alabang, Muntinlupa City in the afternoon of Oct. 1.

The affair was so exclusive, so quiet and simple, that less than 50 close relatives and a few trusted friends witnessed it. Unlike in a traditional wedding, there were no principal/secondary sponsors.

“We wanted our relationship to be blessed,” Pia said in yesterday’s scoop. “We are Christian and we want not just to read The Bible and attend services together but to live our faith.”

They were wed in civil rites before the Christian wedding.

Pia and Steve belong to the Victory Christian Fellowship, she for more than two years and he only lately. Steve converted to being a Born-again Christian from being a Catholic, even if, as Pia said, “I didn’t pressure him to.”

The couple plans to have a big wedding next year maybe in Europe where they spent their first vacation abroad together early this year, purposely to find a place for the event.

Meanwhile, they are living apart, with Pia at her own condo unit and Steve with his parents. In time, they will move to their conjugal dream house.
