The 'return' of Probinsiyana

Probinsiyana is billed as the picture that made Premiere in 1946. It starred Carmen Rosales in the title role with Jose Padilla Jr. and Tony Arnaldo as leading men. Susana de Guzman wrote and directed Probinsiyana.

After 11 years, Probinsiyana ‘returned’ with Olivia Cenizal in the title role, opposite Efren Reyes and Jose Romulo. Also produced by Premiere, the 1957 version was written by Jose Flores Sibal and directed by Josefino Cenizal, who also did the musical scoring.

Off-cam, Josefino and Olivia were husband and wife.                  — RKC
