Mila Nimfa: Child star of the '50s

- Danny Dolor -

Mila Nimfa is best remembered as Narda in the original Darna and its sequel, both topbilled by Rosa del Rosario and produced by Royal Productions in the early ’50s.

The child star actually starred in other movies, including Basag na Manika and Walang Kapantay, also produced by Royal and directed by Fernando Poe Sr.

Mila was Royal’s contract artist.

The original Darna (with Cristina Aragon as Valentina) was directed by Poe, while the sequel (with Elvira Reyes as Babaing Lawin) was directed by Carlos Vander Tolosa. Ding was played by Manuel Ubaldo in both films.

Mila quit the movies in the mid-’50s, when Poe died and Royal Productions closed shop. She is now engaged in religious activities in a Tondo parish. — RKC
