3-hour marathon for CSI trilogy

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Over 10 years in the making, hit procedural drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will have a crossover trilogy that spans all three shows of the global hit TV franchise. The TV event will have a three-hour marathon tomorrow, July 28 on AXN.

For the first time in the history of the franchise, a character will travel through all three precincts to solve a case. While staying true to each show’s character in the franchise, a common dramatic arc ties all three shows together, beginning in Miami, developing in New York, and only gets solved in Las Vegas.

The trilogy starts in CSI: Miami with Bone Voyage. A severed limb found in the Florida Everglades lead Horatio Caine (David Caruso) and his team to the Nevada desert. Discovering that the limb belongs to a girl gone missing in the Las Vegas precinct, Dr. Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne), on the hunt for the killer, is called in to help.

From Florida, the investigation progresses upstate through CSI: NY’s Hammer Down, in which Langston travels to New York after Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) identifies a woman found dead with her blood drained in a truck as someone Langston interviewed in Miami as a person of interest. To their disgust and horror, they find themselves waist deep in a dangerous, organized criminal ring that dabbles with prostitution, surrogacy, human trafficking, as well as black market organs.

The trilogy concludes in Las Vegas with the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode The Lost Girls. Langston, desperate to find another missing girl tied to the same criminal and prostitution ring, digs deeper into the trafficking organization that operates out of his precinct. Betraying his tough exterior, Langston makes a desperate bid to save the victim before it’s really too late. We see Langston grappling hard with the heart and gut-wrenching burden of a CSI. There is a pay-off for his burdens but does it come too late?

Creating the trilogy was no simple feat, but CSI: NY exec producer Pam Veasey welcomed the challenge: “What you fundamentally do is tell a ‘CSI’ story, which is what we all have in common,” she said.

“You will see each of the shows take a different approach to a story that starts in Miami. Obviously, Ray Langston travels through all of the shows (so) you have to find the consistencies with his character, how he would flow into each story.”

The leading men of CSI have been key cornerstones in each of their shows. Regardless whether you’re a devoted fan of the Las Vegas, New York, or Miami editions, you can expect to see a different side of Langston, Caine and Taylor when they meet. It becomes evident that these three formidable minds wrapped in a tough masculine exterior have little to rely on except themselves and their teammates. It is also a must-see treat to witness the trio combine their expertise to solve a case in this three-episode, three show ground-breaker.
