What drives Tintin?

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -

I got a note from Tintin Bersola-Babao on what’s the latest about her and her family. Tintin is one of the most thoughtful persons I know. She loves to write and she would send me a line or two on about just anything under the sun and the moon. Her love for writing spawned the books Basura Monster, Bakit Siya Meron? Bakit Ako, Wala, The Story of Christine, etc.

Tintin juggles her time between career and family. Busy with work, she is a hands-on mom to five-year- old daughter Antonia and four-month-old baby Nio (Antonio). Baby Nio and Tintin have just finished shooting a TVC for EQ diaper with the special participation of Antonia. Tintin and Antonio will be on the cover of Working Mom Magazine this August. Tintin is also a devoted wife to newscaster Julius Babao.

Recently, she was given the prestigious Ulirang Ina Award by the National Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Foundation. Julius was also awarded the Ulirang Ama in the last Father’s Day celebration. She was also chosen by the editorial board of the iconic Woman Today Magazine as its Mother of the Year Awardee.

Tintin maintains her brainchild, www.parentin.tv, the first Philippine on-line parenting show which recently held its fun day called the Mom and Me Cookfest for its website members at the CCA Kitchen at Eastwood Mall in partnership with El Real Pasta.

On July 3, www.parentin.tv will celebrate its first successful year at the Megamall Events Center from 3 to 6 p.m. Sponsored by Baby Co, Megamall, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Ainon Baby Products, El Real Pasta, Little Tikes, Sterling Paper, Filstar, Rinnai Gas Stove, Anchor Milk and EQ Diaper.

Tintin also co-hosts Kabuhayang Swak na Swak (with Bobby Yan aired Saturdays and Sundays 7 a.m. on ABS-CBN) and co-anchors the DZMM program, Magandang Morning with Julius and Tintin on weekends. She is also busy hosting corporate shows, promoting her children’s books and organizing charity bazaars. She has a charity bazaar scheduled on Nov. 17 to 21 at the World Trade Center. (Call 931-0852 to reserve a booth and be bazaar merchant).

Truly, Tintin is a working mom.

More on Cats

Bambi Verzo of Concertus sent us this story on Cats, topbilled by Lea Salonga. “Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, David Atkins Enterprises and Concertus in association with The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific are happy to announce the Season Extension of Cats Now and Forever from July 24 to Aug. 15. This highly-anticipated musical, featuring an international cast starring national treasure Lea Salonga will be staged at CCP, Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo.

One of the best-known and best-loved musicals the world has ever known, Cats has been acclaimed worldwide by over 65 million people. With a magnificent score composed by the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber — including the poignant hit song Memory — an imaginative set, inspired choreography and stunning costumes, Cats is a brilliant song and dance spectacular not to be missed.

The original production of Cats, produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Lloyd Webber’s The Really Useful Group and directed by the renowned Royal Shakespeare Company Director, Trevor Nunn, burst onto the London stage on May 11, 1981 to rave reviews and went on to win a record-breaking number of awards worldwide, including two Olivier Awards for Musical of the Year and Outstanding Achievement of the Year in Musicals and seven Tony Awards.

Cats opened on Broadway on Oct. 7, 1982 and went on to hold the unique position of being the longest-running musical in both West End and Broadway history until January 9, 2006 when it was overtaken by The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, followed by Les Misérables claiming the West End title in October that year.

Cats played for 18 years on Broadway, closing on Sept. 10, 2000, and played its final West End performance on its 21st birthday on May 11, 2002. However, a touring production continues to play to capacity audiences in the USA.

Cats has been presented in 10 languages in 300 cities over 26 countries, including such diverse destinations as Buenos Aires, Seoul, Helsinki and Hong Kong, where it toured in 1994.”
