TV5's drama delight & laughternoon break

MANILA, Philippines - When most networks are airing game and variety shows during lunch time, TV5 once again impresses us all with its unique offerings and innovation as it introduces an exciting alternative to everyday noontime viewing with the newest entertainment blocks, Noontime Drama Delight and Laughternoon Break, featuring the best Asian drama and comedy series starting today.

Boasting of high-rating international drama and comedy program hits such as the award-winning Singaporean drama The Little Nyonya, situational comedies Phua Chu Kang and Under One Roof, TV5 airs the Asian masterpieces on local TV for the first time, after having been well-received in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, France and Canada.

A cultural masterpiece about the life and times of the half-Chinese community, Noontime Drama Delight’s The Little Nyonya dates back to Malacca in the ‘50s — when Peranakan culture was at its peak. It begins with a girl named Angela, who discovers the history of her ancestors, their struggles as Nyonya women appeasing both Chinese and Malay communities. The drama also won Best Drama Serial, Best Supporting Actresses, and Best Actress in the 2009 Star Awards in Singapore.

Laugh out loud in Laughternoon Break with the famous Phua Chu Kang, an award-winning comedy series about Kang’s very funny ways in his married life and on his daily interactions with his whole family. Also on the funny side is Asian TV Awards’ Best Comedy Series winner Under One Roof — the sitcom that started it all, telling a hilarious story of a typical multi-ethnic Singaporean family.

Watch out for more of Asia’s best collection of drama and comedy programs to grace local TV and be entertained with the historical and cultural fairytale in The Little Nyonya, 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Noontime Drama Delight.
