The trip down memory lane continues.
Next in line is Dionne Warwick who is scheduled to perform at the Araneta Coliseum on Oct. 2, with Jay-R as special guest.
Titled A Memorable Evening with Dionne, the concert is produced by ALV Events International in cooperation with H21 Events and Semax International.
The aunt of Whitney Houston, Warwick has established herself as an international icon in an illustrious four-decade career, harvesting Grammys along the way and renowned for her collaboration with Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
It must be quite an experience to hear Warwick sing “live” such well-loved hits as among others, Say A Little Prayer, Don’t Make Me Over, Do You Know The Way to San Jose, Alfie, Walk On By, A House is Not a Home, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, This Girl’s in Love With You, Reach Out For Me, Make It Easy On Yourself, Always Something There to Remind Me, You’ll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart) and Promises, Promises.
She also lent her voice to the popular 1985 anthem We Are The World along with Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Tina Turner, Diana Ross and many others.

Meanwhile, Viva Entertainment has announced the re-scheduling of the much-publicized Sept. 18 and 19 2 International Music Icons concert of Imelda Papin and Melissa Manchester, also at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City on Dec. 18 and the PICC on Dec. 19.
The two singers did a succesful concert in Las Vegas recently.
Back from the US recently after an absence of three years, Imelda is busy promoting her new CD I Love You (a.k.a. Voice of the Heart in the US and Canada) which she recorded in the US under 618 International Records and distributed in the Philippines by Viva Records.
Also, she’s scheduled to turn over dialysis machines to designated hospitals for the free medical treatment of indigent patients. Used in the purchase of the machines were the proceeds from a concert, also in Las Vegas, Imelda did with Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao after his bout with Ricky Hatton.

Mutya-Tourism off to Belarus

Newly-crowned 2009 Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism Jacqueline Durano Shubert left yesterday for Minsk, Belarus, to compete in the 2009 Miss Intercontinental Beauty Pageant.
A deadringer for Jewel Mische, Jacqueline was honored with a send-off dinner at the Banana Leaf restaurant at The Podium by the Mutya ng Pilipinas organizers led by president Roberto de Venecia.
“With her outstanding Eurasian features,” said De Venecia, “she will definitely be a standout in the pageant.”
Started in 1971, the Miss Intercontinental Beauty Pageant is one of the world’s most prestigious. India’s Lara Dutta won the title in 1997 before she won the 2000 Miss Universe crown.
This year’s crown is made with 720 diamonds worth US$300,000, one of the most expensive in beauty-pageant history.
Pinay supermodel among Ford’s Int’l Top 10 list
Pinay beauties continue to conquer the world.
Supermodel Charo Ronquillo (from Laguna), who came home recently for the Philippine Fashion Week, was ranked No. 4 among Ford’s International Top 10 List as reported by Vogue magazine.

Charo joined and won the Supermodel of the World Philippines Search in 2005 when she was just 17 years old. She went on to the Supermodel of the World Finals the following year in New York City and placed third, securing a $100,000 contract with Ford Models. Since her win, Charo has graced the catwalks of New York Fashion Week for designers including LaCoste, Nanette Lapre, Maria Cornejo, Tory Burch, Antonio Berardi, Kenneth Cole, Mac Cosmetics, Barnie C ollection, Sisley and Benetton, and has secured many high-profile editorials.
The other nine Supermodels on the Top 10 list are: UK-born Alexina Graham, Brazilian Camila Finn, Chanel Iman, Kang Seung-Hyun, Canadian Kate Somers, Brazilians Liliane Ferrarezi and Luciana Curtis, Ukrainian Nataliya Gotsii and Puerto Rican Vanessa de Assis.
Albay beauty is Miss Bicolandia
Patricia Shirley Santos, 17, a native of Daraga, Albay, was chosen 2009 Miss Bicolandia in Naga City last week. An English major sophomore at the Bicol University, Patricia at 5’7” was the tallest among the contestants.
2009 Bb. Pilipinas-International Melody Gersbach is also from the same Albay town. She will compete in the 2009 Miss International contest in Szechuan, China.
Among the judges were Jolo Revilla (representing his dad, Sen. Bong Revilla), Mila Drilon (wife of former Sen. Frank Drilon), beauty connoisseur Gerry Diaz and Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad (Sen./Presidentiable Noynoy Aquino’s girlfriend).
Credit for the pageant’s successful staging should go to Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo and his wife (lawyer) Leni Robredo.
