Vic: Nobody can take award from me

-
Absent during the controversy-laden (as usual) 32nd Metro Filmfest Gabi ng Parangal last Dec. 29 (because he and girlfriend Pia Guanio were having a honeymoon...er...a well-deserved holiday in Singapore), Vic Sotto (photo) finally got hold of the Best Picture trophy won by his starrer, the top-grossing Enteng Kabisote (co-produced by Vic’s own M-ZET Films and Orly Ilacad’s OctoArts Films), at yesterday’s thanksgiving press party he and Orly hosted at Virgin Café.

The trophy was received at the Parangal by Angelika Jones who’s in the cast of the movie. (She arrived late at yesterday’s party because she just came from the second Parade of Stars).

‘Diyan ka lang,’
Vic said in jest, addressing the trophy he was holding at the presidential table. ‘Huwag kang aalis diyan!’

Seriously now, Vic said that he was happy with the unexpected award, despite the controversy it generated, recalling that it’s not the first time for an Enteng Kabisote flick to win such an honor.

‘In 1992,’ he said, ‘Okey Ka, Fairy Ko (the first of the Kabisote series) also won the Best Picture award at the Metro Filmfest,’ adding again in jest, ‘Nobody can take the trophy from me,’ also addressing the trophy, ‘walang makakaagaw sa’yo, maski umiyak pa sila!’

This early, Vic is already planning Enteng Kabisote 4, also for this December’s Metro Filmfest, still with virtually the same cast including his leading lady Kristine Hermosa (who was absent from yesterday’s party).

But first, according to Vic, he hopes to finally co-star in a movie with Dolphy for a mid-year playdate.
