Comelec delivers paraphernalia for barangay, SK polls
MANILA, Philippines — With the filing of certificates of candidacy over, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will begin on Wednesday its distribution of materials for the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
“The deployment will be for the farthest (location) first, with the nearest (to the central office) going last,” said Comelec spokesman James Jimenez.
In an advisory, the Comelec’s packing and shipping committee announced that the materials for Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao would be the first to be dispatched.
“We have already packed the forms and supplies to be used by the electoral boards,” Comelec-Project Management Office director Teopisto Elnas said.
Official ballots, election returns, canvassing forms, ballot boxes and indelible ink are among the election materials to be delivered.
The Comelec said on April 26, materials for Region 13 (Caraga) and Batanes would be dispatched.
Election materials for the other regions in Mindanao are set for deployment starting April 27.
Even during the holiday on May 1, the Comelec will continue to deploy election materials for the Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley as well as Region 4-A (Calabarzon) and Region 4-B (Mimaropa).
Election paraphernalia for the National Capital Region will be deployed a few days before election day, the Comelec said.
