2 dead in Cotabato village attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Armed men stormed a seaside village here, killing two fishpond workers yesterday morning.

Guiamadel Abubakar and Guia Akmaed died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

A still unidentified villager was wounded in the incident that occurred in Sitio Lupapakan, Barangay Kalanganan.

The armed men also burned two houses and three boats docked nearby.

Barangay officials said the attack could be related to the ambush-slay of five members of a family in a nearby village several days ago.

Investigators said the armed men arrived on board two boats at around 5:15 a.m. and shot at the houses.
