Bacolod Tay Tung, Don Bosco Dumaguete on collision course

CEBU, Philippines —  The Bacolod Tay Tung High School and Royal Star Trading-Don Bosco Dumaguete eased through their fourth consecutive win, putting themselves on collision course for the coveted title of the SM-NBTC Visayas Qualifying Tournament at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero.

Joevan Felicidario scattered 21 points, four rebounds, one assist, and three steals as Tay Tung mauled the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Team B, 96-50, to stay perfect at 4-0.

Four others hit twin digits for Tay Tung. AJ de los Reyes and Nap Lawrence Aleligay connived for 27 points while Marvin de los Santos and Dylan Benedict Despi scored 11 apiece in the Bacoleños’ wire-to-wire victory that saw them leading by as much as 46 points.

On the other hand, Don Bosco Dumaguete kept its undefeated record intact with a 77-59 whacking of the OCCCI-Western Leyte College (WLC) of Ormoc City.

Matthew James Jucom paced the Royal Star-backed squad with 17 points and six rebounds followed by Jay Anthony Depillo with 15 markers, six boards and two steals.

Almarlon Winters and MJ Hendric Vailoces finished with 23 combined points for Don Bosco Dumaguete, which closed the first half with a 44-33 edge before surging to a 20-point advantage, 74-54, in the closing minutes of the contest. — EBV
