CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 is seeking the help of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to identify the armed group posing as PDEA agents and ransacked two houses at Sitio Himongbongan, Barangay Taloot, Argao, Cebu on Tuesday, April 16.

Leia Alcantara, spokesperson of PDEA-7, disowned the group and clarified that they did not have any operation in Argao last Tuesday. She said the armed persons, allegedly wearing masks, were impostors.

Alcantara said they are now coordinating with the Argao Police Station to help them investigate and identify the persons involved. She said PDEA-7 will definitely take legal actions against those misrepresenting the agency for nefarious activities.

She admitted that this is not the first incident that the PDEA is being used for illegal activities.

Alcantara explained that the use of PDEA's name is one of the occupational hazards they encounter. She asked the public to report to them any information about the group or personalities misrepresenting as agents of PDEA.

Ma appreciate pud na namo dako na nga tabang sa amoa if naa mi ma receive nga information naa di ay nigamit sa amo pangalan para maka take action pud mi,  said Alcantara.

Alcantara said the PDEA legal officer will file criminal charges for usurpation of authority to anyone caught using the name of the agency.  — /FPL (FREEMAN)
