CEBU, Philippines — The monthly financial aid for the senior citizens will be simultaneously distributed today, said Cebu City Councilor Pastor Alcover Jr., the chairman of the City Council committee on senior citizens.

In an interview Tuesday, Alcover told the media that they are set to distribute the monthly financial assistance for the seniors today which is at least P1,000 monthly.

As to the P500 additional Christmas bonus, Alcover said it has already been filed before the City Council. This will be distributed to the senior citizens in the city who are not yet officially registered.

"There were around 10,000 senior citizens waiting kay ang na rehistro ra jud officially kay naa sa mga 90,000 nga senior citizens," said Alcover.

"Kato gyung tag P500 nga akong gipapasar sa konseho, para sa kani gyung wala pa makadawat pero di man na ma diha diha dayon kay mo undergo pa man na og process," he added.

Alcover said the ordinance to grant P500 Christmas bonuses is now under the Office of the Mayor, pending for his approval.

He, however, assures that he will make a follow during their regular session today.

Alcover said he is now also pushing to amend that senior citizens whose ages belonged to octogenarian and nonagenarian will be receiving P25,000 instead of P5,000 and P15,000, respectively. While those who will reach the age of 100 years old will be receiving at least P50,000.

“Napasar ni sya sa second reading pa, wala pay final,” said Alcover. —/GMR (FREEMAN)
