Scouts get disaster response training from CCDRRMO
CEBU, Philippines — Close to 2,000 boy scouts in Central Visayas were trained on disaster response, first aid and other relevant trainings during the recent Regional Scout Venture Camp held at the Capitol Hills in Cebu City over the weekend.
Personnel from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) conducted the training along with the Philippine Air Force and the Department of Education.
Participants, which include 700 scouts from different schools in Cebu City, were also taught on basic swimming skill.
The four-day camp, which started Tuesday, had five modules for senior scouts, which include basic rescue, global development, child protection, land scouting, and first aid among others.
Salvio Quicho, acting regional scout director, thanked DepEd and all local government units, especially Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, for supporting their activity.
“Dako ang akong pasalamat ilabi na sa suporta sa DepEd, mga LGUs ilabi na sa Cebu City ni Mayor Michael Rama, ni Konsehal Joy Pesquera,” Quicho said.
According Quicho, their camping activity would not have been possible without the support of all concerned agencies.
“Dili ni matuman kung walay suporta ilabi na sa mga ginikanan ug senior scouts ug tanang mga agency nga naa diri nisuporta sa Boy Scouts of the Philippines sa Visayas Region,” added Quicho. (FREEMAN)
