Labella returns from sick leave - works at home
CEBU, Philippines — After three days of being on leave due to an ear infection, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella has returned to work but is overseeing the city from home per his doctor’s advice.
“My doctor has advised me to stay at home for a few more days so as to minimize contact with people and make a full recovery from the ear infection. So I have been working from home today, catching up on all the paperwork,” Labella said in a Facebook post Monday afternoon.
“Mapasalamaton kaayo ko kaninyo mga Sugbuanon sa inyong pasensya, ilabina sa mga kinasingkasing nga pag-ampo ug well-wishes. Nakapadasig intawon kanako ang inyong pagsabot,” he added.
In a phone interview yesterday morning, Labella said he was told by his doctor that he got the infection from going around the city, thus, the advice for him to avoid exposure at this point.
He said he is feeling better and just completing the dosage of antibiotic for his ear infection.
“Anyway, everything is under control. The antibiotics had addressed the concerns, so we’re safe. Thank God, thanks for the prayers, thanks for the prayers to the Sto. Niño that we were able to contend the germ,” Labella said.
Public Information Officer Razel Cuizon confirmed that the mayor is no longer on medical leave.
Labella expressed his gratitude to Vice Mayor Michael Rama who served as acting mayor while he was on leave, and to his fellow workers in the city government for ensuring that government services were not disrupted. — JMO (FREEMAN)
