CEBU, Philippines —  Security is now in place for the opening of classes on Monday in the whole of Central Visayas, according to Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Spokesperson Reyman Tolentin.

Tolentin said that the provincial and city directors were already given the directive to secure the opening of classes and all they have to do now is to implement and supervise their personnel.

"In place na atong security package ana, so all the city and provincial directors have to do is implement the plan and supervise their people para sigurado gyud nga hapsay ang pag open sa klase," Tolentin said.

Tolentin also said that they are ready for the opening of classes, deploying 30 percent of more than 8,000 personnel from Region 7 to look into areas with high influx of people.

"For the Balik Eskwela on June 4, we are ready for that. We have more than 8,000 police personnel in Region 7.  So, about 30 percent of that will be tasked for the opening of classes. Yung mga naka-assign sa beat patrol, sila ang i-tap nato to really look into the areas wherein students converge and influx of people is expected," Tolentin told The FREEMAN.

Tolentin also said that aside from priority areas, they are looking into possible areas of concern especially areas with fraternities and illegal activities and are not letting their guard down.

"Because of the Oplan Balik Eskwela, we do not let up our guards to really ensure the security of the students and parents. We also have not lowered our guards in terms of fraternities. Monitoring is ongoing, and in the previous cases, dialogues have been conducted for the leaders of these fraternities spearheaded by our Provincial Directors and City Directors" said Tolentin. — Chelsey Gaile B.
